About JASGC
Building Bridges Since 1988
The Japan America Society of Greater Cincinnati (JASGC) has been strengthening connections between Japan and the Greater Cincinnati region for over 35 years. As a nonprofit organization, we serve as a cultural and professional bridge between our two countries—fostering friendship, trust, and mutual respect through events, education, and collaboration.
We believe that the relationship between Japan and the United States thrives when built on understanding, cultural appreciation, and shared experiences. Every event, program, and initiative we offer brings us one step closer to that goal.
Our Mission
The JASGC exists to promote a deeper understanding and lasting cultural awareness between the people of Japan and the residents of Greater Cincinnati.
We work to:
- Encourage business, cultural, and social connections
- Provide learning opportunities for both children and adults
- Share the beauty and history of Japanese culture with our community
- Strengthen U.S.-Japan relations through real, human connections
Whether you’re a longtime supporter or discovering us for the first time, we welcome you to be part of this growing community.
We Serve
We serve individuals, families, businesses, and institutions that value Japanese-American relations. Our programs bring people together—residents, students, professionals, and visitors—by highlighting the connections between our cultures and educating people about Japan.
From Japanese language classes to networking events for professionals, we help deepen friendships and provide meaningful ways to engage.
We Collaborate
We partner with local and national organizations to create high-quality programs that reflect the best of both cultures. Our collaborators include schools, universities, corporations, cultural institutions, and fellow nonprofits.
Together, we co-host events such as:
- Business seminars with Japanese executives
- Japanese arts and musical performances
- Cultural festivals
- Film screenings and lectures
- Community celebrations like our annual Gala and Bonenkai
We Educate
Education is at the heart of what we do. We offer programs for learners of all ages to better understand Japanese culture and history, from workshops to expert-led discussions. These include:
- Japanese language classes
- Japanese cultural workshops
- School presentations and outreach
By investing in education, we help shape the future of U.S.–Japan relations.
Our Approach
Our programs are built around community interests and are attended by people who are passionate about cross-cultural awareness.
Our programs are for Japanese, Americans, and anyone in the region with an interest in Japan.
A Member of NAJAS
JASGC is one of 38 Japan-America Societies across the U.S. and Canada that belong to the National Association of Japan-America Societies (NAJAS). NAJAS supports local organizations like ours by promoting strong ties between Japan and North America.
These numbers show the strength and reach of the Japan-America network. But behind every number is a story—a conversation, a shared meal, a new friendship.
