JASGC’s Annual Bonnenkai 2023

On Friday, December 8, the Japan America Society of Greater Cincinnati (JASGC) hosted its annual Bonenkai 忘年会, a traditional Japanese year-end party, at the Pleasant Ridge Presbyterian Church.

Bonenkai, which literally translates to “forget-the-year-gathering,” is a cherished tradition in Japan marking the end of the year. It’s an opportunity to leave behind the worries and troubles of the past year and look forward to a fresh start.

The event began with a cocktail hour followed by a buffet from Mei Japanese Restaurant and Japanese-style desserts from Café Mochiko.

Again this year, JASGC Board Members Steve and Helen Rindsberg hosted a US-Japan Trivia Game, sparking lively conversations and laughter throughout the room. Teams battled it out for the top 3 spots.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who made this event possible, and we look forward to hosting more such events in the future.

For those who couldn’t join us this year, we hope to see you at our next Bonenkai! Here’s to a wonderful year ahead!
